Otago Marathon Championships – Dunedin Marathon

2023 Emerson’s Dunedin Marathon – Full Marathon – Nathan Shanks – Gold in the Athletics Otago Marathon Championships

For many years the full marathon race in the Dunedin Marathon has been used to determine the placings/winners in the Otago Marathon Championships for Athletics Otago. Placings of Athletes currently registered as competitive athletes are gathered to determine placings for the Otago Championships e.g. Athletes placed 1st and 2nd are not registered (may be registered at clubs not affiliated with Athletics Otago i.e. clubs in a different province/country or not registered with any club) and therefore not eligible for Otago Championships placings – the athlete placed 3rd is registered and therefore is first in the Otago Championships.

The details in the file link below have been gathered retrospectively in an attempt to present Athletics Otago registered athlete placings in the full marathon in the Dunedin Marathon from the 1980s to 2023. It is assumed that entrants with a club name are registered. There are a few years in which few or no entries containing Athletics Otago club names have been entered (note that placings in championships would’ve been determined by an Athletics Otago official with the assistance of their own list of registered athletes, rather than relying on the name of the athlete’s club in the marathon race entry).
